F.A.Q.
-
What do I need to participate?
Please have a modern browser (Firefox or Chome) and a stable internet connection, i.e. no LTE access.
We will use the video conferencing software BigBlueButton. If you have the opportunity, please familiarize yourself with it.
You will need a decent web-cam, minimum 720p resolusion and a good quality microphone.
-
Can a team participate which already participated at IYPT
Yes, as the times do not overlap, we are open to teams which attended the IYPT 2021 in Georgia.
-
Five Problems?
To allow each team member to present their work, we limit the set of problems each team may be challenged. Therefore each participant registers their prepared problem and the opponent will get a list of all problems remaining for the challenge. The problems of the last selective round are then implicitly fixed.
-
Recoded Presentation
Running a video conference with participants around the globe might come with technical difficulties. As the report is the central part of a fight, we require each participant to upload a recorded presentation at latest on July 11 (AoE) to a web space. The link to the upload space is visible to team manager on the team management page.
-
Reduced Physics Fight
To compress the schedule into a weekend and reduce the load on all participants, the selective rounds (PF1 - PF5) will take place without a reviewing team.
This means that in each room, there will be only 2 teams competing. A reporting and an opposing team. In the second stage, both teams change their roles. In the case of an odd number of teams, there will be one room with three teams, where the third team acts as observer.
The timing in each stage is as follows
Phase Duration in Min Start of the Meeting (join at CC virtual overview)
team/juror introduction, problem challenge5 Presentation of the Report 12 Questions of the Opponent 2 Preparation of the Opponent 5 Opponent summarizes the discussion 4 Discussion led by Opponent 10 Opponent summarizes the discussion 1 Closing remarks of Reporter 2 Jury Questions 5 Grading 5 Jury Feedback 5 Pause 15 Total 71 -
Draw Permutation
